Tattooing represents a 5000 years old phenomenon. Then, its purpose was primarily spiritual and, apart from that, it was warriors who often wore tattoos. Later on, sailors began to like them and they often brought some from their voyages. Tattoos got a little bit dishonoured in the course of the following years as many criminals got them in bad conditions of prison. Nowadays, tattoos adorn millions of people all around the world: A survey from 2002 says that 1 out of 8 American wears a tattoo.
